Mandatory ENT undergraduate course:

The course covers the principal ear, nose, throat pathologies and is mandatory for students in the 9th semester of their studies in the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Course aims:

Students’ understanding of the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology  of the head and neck area.
Student’s familiarization with principal ENT clinical and paraclinical tests. Development of basic ENT examination – clinical assessment skills.
Development of basic ENT diagnosis and management skills.

Elective Performing Arts Medicine course:

The course focuses on the description of hearing and voice disorders in musicians and performing artists. After the completion of the course lectures, students should be able to understand the physiology and pathophysiology of hearing and voice, the particularity of these conditions in the case of performing artists and the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach. Finally, they should acknowledge the interrelation of art, basic medical sciences and medicine when managing hearing and voice disorders in this particular patients’ group.
